To check paper usage on your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw, follow these steps to monitor usage efficiently:
Method 1: Check Paper Usage via the Printer’s Control Panel
- Turn on the Printer – Ensure your printer is powered on.
- Access Reports Menu – On the printer’s touchscreen, tap the Setup icon (gear icon).
- Select Reports – Scroll and tap Reports.
- Print Usage Page – Look for an option like Usage Page or Supplies Status Page. Then select Print to check your paper usage on the HP Color LaserJet.
- Review the Printed Report – The printed page will show details on the number of pages printed, color vs. black & white usage, and toner levels.

Open the printer from sitting go to => Setup

Then go to the => Reports

Go to => Usage Page

After you click on => Usage Page, it will print out the paper

Below is the Total Impressions of paper = 47637

Then we make printing one more the Total Impressions = 47639

To all Total papers: 47639 – 47637 = 2 (All papers usage = 2). You can follow another method as below.
Method 2: Check Usage via HP Smart App (PC or Mobile)
- Open HP Smart App – If not installed, download it from HP’s website.
- Select Your Printer – Ensure your printer is connected.
- Go to Printer Reports – Find an option to view printer reports or usage details to check the paper usage.
- Check the Statistics – Look for total pages printed and toner levels.
Method 3: Check via Printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS)
- Find the Printer’s IP Address – On the printer screen, go to Setup > Reports > Network Configuration. Print the page to obtain the IP address.
- Open a Web Browser – On your computer, type the printer’s IP address in the address bar and press Enter.
- Log in (if needed) – Default username and password may be required to check the usage details.
- Check Usage Reports – Go to the Reports or Usage Page in the printer’s web interface. You will find an overview of your paper usage on the HP Color LaserJet.
