Today, I confusedly deleted my Chrome profile that had some websites that I had bookmarked. I want to recover it back to my desktop in Windows 11. Accidentally deleting a Chrome profile can be frustrating, but there are a few steps you can take to recover it:
- Check for Local Data:
- Navigate to
C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data
. - Look for folders named “Default” or “Profile [number]”—these might contain your profile data.
- If you find them, you can try restoring them to a previous version by right-clicking the folder, selecting “Properties,” and then “Previous Versions” (if enabled).
- Navigate to
- Sync with Your Google Account:
- If your profile was synced with a Google account, sign back into Chrome using the same account. This should restore bookmarks, extensions, and other synced data.
- Recover Bookmarks:
- If bookmarks are your main concern, look for a file named
Bookmarks.bak
in the profile folder mentioned above. You can rename it toBookmarks
and replace the existing file.
